SavageBoy69 (born 2002) is a Speakonia Community user that joined on June 3, 2016. Initially known for his videos about The Who during the first Renaissance, he later along with Skewt took defacto leadership of the community by the Second Renaissance in 2019. While knowing about the Barney Bunch and Speakonia Community for several years but never thinking of actually participating in it, Savage joined during the aforementioned first Renaissance, and became a key player in it. He has retired twice, in 2018 and 2020 respectively, and in 2022 staged a brief comeback before ceasing video production again.

History edit

Early career edit

SavageBoy got his first taste of the community when he watched Drew Pickles Talks 'Bout Closing Logos in early 2011 and was obsessed with it, after gaining an interest in logos a few years prior. He stated in his I'm Taking A Break video on VidLii (now lost) that he initially didn't get the homosexual part of the video, but nonetheless, he found it funny. Savage also watched the Looney Tunes Intro Bloopers videos, which inspired him to download Speakonia by late 2011, although he really just horsed around with the idea of being able to make a voice say what you wanted it to rather than actually make videos with it, plus, given how he was nine years old at the time, not making videos then was probably for the best. He would use Speakonia intermittently throughout the next couple of years for unrelated purposes, later forgetting about it.

It wasn't until 2016 and rediscovering the video and watching more Drew Pickles videos that Savage decided to begin his channel on June 3rd of that year just right off of a rough patch in his life and unintentionally became part of a wave of new members of the Speakonia Community who all emerged during early-mid 2016. From June to December 2016, he was known as SavageBoy69Alt (having had to make an alt account due to his original channel being terminated for no reason days after creation).

Savage got fully into music in early 2015, so he began including the English rock band The Who, of which was his favorite band at the time, in his videos, which caused Blood to initially think Savage hated the band. The Who turned out to be a minor hit with the community with users such as Life or Death making videos on them. However, Savage got too carried away, and started including a lot of other bands, which culminated in a piece of advice from Blood on adding new characters.

As the 2016 Renaissance began to burn out, Savage began to take hiatuses that became more progressively common. The downward spiral appeared to culminate on December 12, 2016, when Blood uploaded the update video "BARNEY BUNCH VIDEO CONTEST WEEK 10 THEME + Serious Talk". In the video, Blood revealed that he was in a financial dilemma with his previous employer. It was not the video itself that served as the culmination of the downward spiral, but rather an infamous suggestion by Savage for the community to keep going, and for Blood to rectify his dilemma. This comment roughly read[1]:

"I'm not trying to be an asshole here, in fact this isn't targeted at no-one here, but I have to come clean about my silence lately. The BB is going down real fucking bad. And it's made some of us motivation. It's going down faster than the Hindenburg. But we can't let this happen. I recently commented on Life Or Death's week 9 winner video a long essay, similar to the one you gave me on classic rock characters in length, about my laziness and a suggestion I have. This will probably sound dumb but, I think we need to make money from this. Disagree all you want, I'm not forcing anybody to do this...I recently came across a Secret Missing Episode of Caillou or whatever you spell his name or something, that had 500,000 views. That's the same view count as an average big YouTuber almost. Using TubeBuddy it is estimated that if that user had monetization, he would have earned $833 from that video. If you earned that much money, that would be your starting point for saving up the $5000 you owe to that employer. In fact, another secret missing episode I was looking at could have earned $586. If we get the Barney Bunch back on track, and begin to get more people to fully understand the premise of the BB, then we'll get a bigger community, which means more views, and with monetization, money. It could solve your problem."

This suggestion was met with absolute scorn by Blood, as well as Mister Incognito, and also resulted in a small argument between Blood and BooNube over a partially related matter. Both Blood and Incognito told Savage that the Barney Bunch was not about making money and that he did not understand what the BB was about. After further discussion, they suggested Savage spin off his BB content to another account, which he did so on December 13, 2016, when he created the SAVAGE GAYSHIT channel, with his main channel now concentrating on what he said were 'dank memes', but mainly consisted of whatever he felt like uploading there to varied forms of reception, dabbling in commentary videos, meme edits, and YouTube Poops. His main channel enjoyed success with a Steamed Hams edit in which it's the piano dub but in orchestral form which gained tens of thousands of views. He also sort of participated in the Wiki Saga in 2017 and was a member of the NewSchoolSwellness Google+ page (of which he keeps a downloaded archive). He was that page's subsequent Discord server's most vocal opponent.

Later career edit

A screenshot of SavageBoy's "SavageBarney69" channel, his main channel during the Second Barney Bunch Renaissance, on July 15, 2019. Notably, Blood praised Savage and Skewt's efforts in reviving the community in the comment section.

In March 2018, after not having made much Barney Bunch content, Savage decided to retire, not too long after Skewt announced his (in fact, Savage was directly motivated to get on with it on the basis of Skewt's announcement). In his retirement video, he stated: "No hiatus, no little break. Complete, outright, flat out retirement, never to make a video again", a statement which did not turn out to be true at all. 2018 turned out to be a bad year for Savage, with personal issues making the year unprecedentedly dark for him. In early 2019, a much better year, he and Skewt began sharing Blood's videos once again, and both got the urge to return to video making, this time on VidLii. A little while before that, Savage made a surprise return on YouTube with a Blood-style video on Slipknot, but this didn't pick up steam. He also repurposed an old VidLii account he had created days after it's launch on June 12, 2017 for BB purposes. On May 21, 2019, he renamed his channel to SavageBarney, in tribute to usernames used by those in the original Newgrounds incarnation of the community. In June 2019, Savage announced he would move to VidLii, declaring he felt the Barney Bunch was becoming incompatible with YouTube. During the Second Barney Bunch Renaissance, Savage took more of a clerical/administrative role in the community, running a Discord server for the Renaissance-era users.

He announced on VidLii on June 26, 2019 in a lengthy video that he would take a break; one of his cats had torn their stitches from being recently neutered and needed re-stitched. However, he was able to return a day later when the surgery turned out fine. July 2019 turned out to be his most productive month yet out of his entire career, with about 60+ new videos uploaded throughout the entire month. In late July 2019, after uploading actual Arthur Read and Buster Baxter hentai, Savage received two strikes on his account, yet he could still upload for some reason. Citing increasing disillusionment with VidLii, evidenced by growing drama and hostility between various users, as well as his bickering with Zodiac0, one of the VidLii Discord server's moderators, he announced he would leave there on August 17, 2019, but will still upload to YouTube. He shut down his account entirely ten days later. However, on December 16, 2019, Savage returned to VidLii. As of March 2020, he juggled uploading between VidLii and YouTube.

On November 10, 2020, Savage left a message on both the Miraheze Speakonia Community Wiki and the Discord server announcing a second retirement after losing interest in the Barney Bunch. In this announcement, he said that his life was fine, but that he was simply just disinterested for a variety of factors, including the umpteenth decline of the community, and also because he felt his sense of humor had changed. In addition, he admitted he "couldn't handle drama for shit", revealing he cracked when he argued with Zodiac0. He claimed that he would keep editing the wiki every 45 days to avoid deletion, but he wound up abandoning the wiki completely after a while, and it shut down in August 2021.

Savage's BB activities would attract a degree of outside attention in mid-2021, when the case of Joanna Lopez, a young Chicago woman who went missing in the 1980s and was aired on television after hours, came to light. In the search for information about Lopez, an article was discovered on the Speakonia Community Wiki about Lopez, made in February 2020, claiming The Wiggles captured her and her entire family and had them executed in Drewland. Obviously, this was met with disdain by Reddit and YouTube users. In October 2021, Savage discovered this revelation and went on both Reddit and YouTube to explain and apologize for the article, stating he had made it to deal with how terrified he was over the image.

On July 11, 2022, he made an account on Tracle, marking his official BB comeback, in addition to joining the Speakonia Community Discord server. While not as seriously invested in the community as previously, he has continued to occasionally make videos, and has also edited the Barney Bunch TV Tropes page. He deleted his VidLii accounts on August 6, 2022, due to a mixture of boredom and wanting to proceed with other endeavors.

List of accounts edit

Like Blood and several other users, Savage has had multiple accounts over the years, and only a few survive today.

YouTube edit

  • SavageBoy69Alt (June 3, 2016 - December 13, 2016): Original account, initially created for BB purposes, until it was spun off into SAVAGE GAYSHIT on December 13, 2016. It was then used for more general meme purposes, with Savage dabbling in various types of videos, such as YouTube Poops and "dank" memes. It's best known video was "Steamed Hams but it's an orchestral arrangement of the piano dub", which amassed over 30k views since its upload in January 2018. The account was terminated in September 2020 due to copyrighted content.
  • SavageBarney (December 13, 2016 - April 2, 2020): Originally known as "SAVAGE GAYSHIT", Savage created this account on December 13, 2016 following suggestions by Blood and Mister Incognito that came as a result of Savage's infamous suggestion to make money from Barney Bunch content in order to save it from a downhill spiral. This account was abandoned at some point after that and was renamed "I WAS SAVAGE AND MADE GAYSHIT BUT NOW I AM RETIRED", but was revived during the Second Barney Bunch Renaissance as a mirror for his VidLii content due to the site's tedious eight-videos-a-day limit. Subsequently, it was renamed "SavageBarney", as a nod to the original Newgrounds usernames. It was striked from July to October 2019, and was eventually suspended on April 3, 2020. Before it's suspension, it had 137 videos and amassed 65 subscribers. Because it was suspended and not terminated, the video data still remained but wasn't accessible by normal means. Savage discovered this on July 28, 2022 when he was able to recover the content from the channel via Google's Takeout feature.
  • SavageBarney Is Back (June 7, 2016 - ) An alternate account stashed since 2016, brought out when the channel above was striked on August 1, 2019. As of September 2020, it remains the sole existing SavageBoy channel on YouTube, and as a result holds some of Savage's only surviving content.

VidLii edit

  • SavageBarney69 (June 12, 2017 - August 27, 2019): Originally a non-BB account with the SavageBoy name, it was one of the earliest accounts on VidLii. it was resurrected as one in May 2019, just at the dawn of the Second Barney Bunch Renaissance. Uploads ceased on August 19, 2019, and the channel was shut down on August 27. Despite having the most views, notoriety, subscribers and videos, this channel wasn't banned.
  • SavageBoyHole (December 13, 2018 - August 6, 2022): Created initially as "SavageBoyBarneyBunch" to reupload classic Barney Bunch videos, it was briefly re-used during the Second Barney Bunch Renaissance to bypass the upload limit. In July 2022, he began to reuse it, and renamed it to "SavageBoyHole". Deleted on August 6, 2022, although most of the videos were reuploads from his SavageBarney YouTube channel, of which the content was recovered in July 2022.
  • SavageBarney2 (July 6, 2019 - June 20, 2020): An alt created to circumvent VidLii's 8 videos a day limit. Banned on June 20, 2020 when he spammed Charles Finster videos to overflow the VidLii videos page.
  • SavageBarneyAlt (August 28, 2019 -): Another alt specifically created for lurking around on other users' comments and not for posting more videos.
  • SavageBarneyIsBack (December 16, 2019 - June 20, 2020): Savage's most recent VidLii account. Banned on June 20, 2020 when he spammed Charles Finster videos to overflow the VidLii videos page.
  • SavageBarneyAgain (July 29, 2022 - August 6, 2022): A new account created after reaching VidLii's 10 videos a day limit while reuploading old videos. Deleted on August 6, 2022.

Newgrounds edit

  • SavageBARN3Y (August 26, 2017 - ): An account created to attempt to revive the BB on Newgrounds, with a flash entry that would up being blammed almost instantly.

Pornhub edit

  • savagebis (April 2019 - ): An account made for a potential stint of posting BB videos to PornHub, but was abandoned shortly after. May or may not have previously uploaded some videos back in 2017 under a deleted account.
