IronYoshi1212 Productions (also goes by IronYoshi1212 and IronYoshi) is a member of the Speakonia Community who first started creating content in 2020. Originally a video maker who specialized in Mario blooper videos during the early and mid 2010s, he was an avid fan of the Barney Bunch and the community before he would go on to make his own Speakonia videos, mainly Drew Pickles Goes To and Pube Muppet videos. He is perhaps best known for having more story and plot-driven videos, some of which range in length of 20 to 30 minutes and feature numerous references to past Speakonia Community and Barney Bunch work.
History
Pre-Speakonia Years (2008-2016)
Before he became a member of the Speakonia Community, IronYoshi started out on YouTube under the username ironyoshi1212 in August 20, 2008. At the time he was roughly 11 years old and mostly watched videos featuring his favorite shows, movies, and games, but he took a keen interest in Sammyt3hSnake (whom he would state would be one of his inspirations for making Speakonia videos years later), and was subscribed to his channel. It was through watching Sammyt3hSnake's videos that he would find out about the Barney Bunch and the rest of the community, and he would begin actively watching many of the most popular members at the time, mainly MrCaptainJeff, HappyTheHomo45, DrewPicklesAintDed69, and bigboyrats to name a few.
IronYoshi wouldn't start making videos until early 2010. They were not Speakonia videos, however, as they were mostly very loose Mario Blooper videos, which were popular at the time, which his staple series were SM64 Super Bloopers, Super Mario Sunshine Bloopers, and the Super Mario Toy Show, which took inspiration from Mario plush videos. While the videos themselves can be considered pretty cringeworthy, there is some charm to it, as he tried to create complex storylines, even if they were still pretty crude and poorly made. Some of the videos actually make a few passing references to Drew Pickles and the Barney Bunch. In one of the videos, he tries to emulate Drew's voice to little success, and even Sammy t3h Snake makes an appearance in at least 2 of his original videos, complete with the Narrator Microsoft Sam voice, implying that he had Microsoft Narrator on his computer. By December 16, 2010, updates to the channel would ultimately stop, which IronYoshi states was because he lost access to his account.
After setting up on a site called MetaCafe (and ultimately abandoning it) in 2011, he went of a brief hiatus until May 30, 2012, when IronYoshi finally returned to YouTube under a new account. It remained fairly quite for a while, with a few sporadic uploads (usually haul videos from Christmas or from attending various conventions), but in late 2015, he started uploading videos again, consisting of revived episodes of his old series as well as video reviews. By early 2016, he appeared to have lost interest again and went on a 3 year hiatus.
Joining the Community (2020-Present)
IronYoshi gradually lost interest in the Barney Bunch/Speakonia Community after his senior year of high school in 2015, but in late 2019, he rediscovered the community again through the likes of classic videos as well as newer members like SwellFusion. It caused a creative shift, as he no longer felt like revisiting his older video series, but instead wanted to create his own Speakonia videos, something he always wanted to do in the past but couldn't because his old computer was shit and wouldn't allow him to download Speakonia. In early 2020, he finally downloaded Speakonia and, on March 19, uploaded his first video in 4 years and his first ever Speakonia video, Drew Pickles Goes Under Quarantine! He would also join VidLii at this time too, where he would upload simultaneously there until around August 2021.
What followed were a handful of Goes To videos (with his first one being Drew going to a rather inept petition on Change.org that demanded the Barney Bunch be removed from YouTube) and some more experimental videos, such as Drew Pickles and the Barney Bunch Get High on 4/20 and Announcing Drew Pickles' Newest Amusement Park! There was also the short-lived Super Swell Stories with Drew Pickles series, which was made to emulate the style of Sammyt3hSnake's earlier videos, but this did not catch on, with only 4 videos made for that series. Some videos were made to explain certain phenomena in the community, such as The Story of Brony Drew Pickles, which explained the origin of the infamous Brony Drew and marked the introduction of Princess Molestia, and more story driven videos followed, starting with Drew Pickles' Newest Creation, which introduced Swellmix into the community and would lead into the big special Drew Pickles and The City of Unswellness. His most popular set of videos were the Drew Pickles Looks At Closing Logos And Then Some series, which were made in homage to the logo videos by Skewt, and Andrew Amborse. To date these are some of his most popular and viewed videos on his channel. He also made several videos featuring Drew Pickles Jr., which would flesh out his personality more and help the character reach new heights in the community.
By late 2020, many members of the community, both old and new, quickly noticed IronYoshi's videos, including DrewPicklesTheDark, Girla PurpleHeart, satinsguard, PoopyBarney, SwellFusion, Hydreigon, timmyt333rebirth, EarthHound, DW4Ever91, and even Blood, who approved of his Barney Bunch Halloween special but disapproved of his Goes To videos. In 2021, IronYoshi expanded by featuring Betty DeVille in some videos and started making videos featuring the Pube Muppet, after the character made several appearances in prior videos. Activity began to slow down by September, which IronYoshi explained in an update video was because of real-life circumstances getting in the way, but even so, he was able to pump out several beloved videos, including Drew Pickles Meets Princess Molestia, the 2021 Barney Bunch Halloween Special, and Pube Muppet's Christmas CockBlock, which held the record for the longest Speakonia video ever produced at 43 minutes and 42 seconds in length before it was dethroned by a video from DJSwell69. He would also create a Speakonia Community Wiki on Fandom in May to act as the primary wiki for the community until its closure in 2023, and a Speakonia Discord server in November, with several noted members of the community joining.
In 2022, IronYoshi continued to upload more videos, oftentimes sporadically, with there being several weeks between uploads as opposed to the weekly uploads of the past year or two. He upgraded to using Adobe Premiere for certain videos, starting with Pube Muppet's Commercialpocalypse and using it for the story-driven videos. He also introduced a new member of the Pubic Family named the Moss Muppet. On April 2nd, IronYoshi uploaded a video to YouTube that criticized YouTube's recent takedown of various members of the Speakonia Community, and called to action the preservation of any Barney Bunch content that could be at risk. He also uploaded to VidLii for the first time since August 2021, though it seems his comeback to the site was cut short following VidLii's recent controversies, and settled on Tracle with users like RoboticBloxxer, Slim Pickles, and CalciferBarney, where he spent a few months reuploading all his videos to the site alongside newer ones.
In July, he would announce Krypto Week to celebrate the release of the DC League of SuperPets movie, where the community would make videos featuring Krypto the Superdog. After Tracle updated its TOS, IronYoshi announced that he would cease uploading there as a form of protest, but would go back on it to release a video calling out both the Speakonia Community and Tracle following the incredibly heated discourse on October 30, and officially announcing his retirement from the site. At the end of 2022, he would release a video discussing the various events that happened throughout they year, criticizing YouTube and the oversaturation of Speakonia groups as well as touching on the passing of both Gary21115 and Blood, while also pointing out various highlights such as the community expanding its reach beyond YouTube and the various collab works. IronYoshi would also announce that he would be working on a new episodic Speakonia series based off of the video A Brief History in the Drew Pickles Existence, with the first episode being uploaded on March 15, 2023.
As of March 2023, IronYoshi remains fairly active within the community, with sporadic uploads every now and then.
Trivia
- Much like ShelltoonTV1, IronYoshi is also apart of the brony fandom, having been producing art of MLP characters since roughly 2016 alongside having two original characters based on the show. However, his view on the fandom, at least in its current state, has been more passive-aggressive, usually criticizing it for taking things way too seriously. In his two videos calling out Digi Data and for his 2022 retrospective, he uses Queen Novo from the 2017 film as his avatar, stating that she is one of his favorite characters alongside Princess Celestia.
- IronYoshi has gone on record stating that both the Pube Muppet and Drew Jr. are some of his favorite characters to write for.
