The Oversaturation Bunch

The Oversaturation Bunch was an event within Speakonia Community history that took place during late summer 2022. It saw the creation of multiple new Speakonia groups that caused widespread criticism with some members of the community, especially veteran members, due to the sheer overabundance of new groups being introduced and their creators do very little or nothing with them. The name is derived from a term coined by IronYoshi1212 during his 2022 retrospective. While not as damaging or heated as the Unestablished War a decade prior, it caused some friction within the community.

History

Prelude

During the late 2000s-early 2010s, as the Barney Bunch was quickly morphing from its Newgrounds iteration, many members began to expand the greater lore within the young community through the creation of various new groups. Some would persist through like the Pubic Family, others would quickly fade into obscurity like the Garfield Gang. The latter option would usually be the outcome. The Foot Fetish Community would up this and bring forth several new groups like the Ketchum Klan and Repulsa Republic, as well as expand on more obscure groups. While the main Speakonia Community didn't pay any mind to them, the Foot Fetish Community's influence would be felt by some members, introducing groups like the Humongous Bunch, Hanna Barbera Bunch, the Nega Barney Bunch, and even more with users like Speakonia Plus adding an absurd number of new groups. Eventually they would fade into relative obscurity. Some criticism was levied by the main Barney Bunch users, but for the most part, the two communities stuck to their respected canons and rarely clashed. Sometimes a new group would be introduced every other year. This would all change by the start of 2022.

Digi Data

2022 would be a very eventful year for the Speakonia Community, for better and for worse. Notable in this instance was the introduction of Digi Data, a user who was around during the start of the 2020s but rarely posted. That all changed when he introduced his own Speakonia group known as the "Bluey Bingos", which, in typical, tried and true new group fashion, touted themselves as the ultimate threat to the Barney Bunch and other Speakonia groups. They wanted to stop the Barney Bunch from raping or killing anyone whenever they go to an establishment (or do whatever), as well as claiming that they cannot be stopped due to having an army of robotic duplicates, holograms, and other random pieces of technology. Digi Data would also add a bunch of characters into his group in almost every video he uploaded, but would rarely do anything with them.

Needless to say, when the community found out about Digi Data through the discovery of a video of him calling out IronYoshi's Drew Pickles Goes Too an NFT video, there was some major criticism and backlash, with Digi Data coming off as a fail-troll who desperately wanted attention and his group being described as a bunch of overpowered Mary-Sues. After a few months, IronYoshi would make a video talking about Digi Data on June 13, calling out Digi Data and his flawed way of making videos and stating that Digi Data barely used his group at all, and would go on to suggest that he actually utilize them in a meaningful way. Digi Data would try to rectify this with his Bluey Bingo Missions, but by then, it was already too late. Digi Data would announce that he would go on an indefinite hiatus in July, much to the community's delight, but he would return less than 2 months later on September 16, prompting IronYoshi to make another rant on him.

At this point, the community had enough, and began thinking of ways of retaliating against him. Others protested against it, stating that he should be ignored. Digi Data would state that he would no longer use the Bluey Bingos if a video was make featuring them being defeated or killed off. Some would try their hand at this, while others knew he was doing this just for attention. On October 6, Digi Data would finally close his account, and the community would celebrate. Even after his departure, many would try and have the last laugh by making videos (StraightFusion and Michael of Random in particular) where the Bluey Bingos were killed off or treated as a punchline. While some enjoyed it, others, like IronYoshi, were critical of these videos, stating that this was exactly what Digi Data wanted. Others, like BumpBob Looly, decided to take the Bluey Bingos and rework them into something more palatable, which was met with mixed reception before ultimately abandoning the idea altogether.

"The Bunch Month"

As the community was dealing with Digi Data, many in the Speakonia Community Discord server began to start rapidly adding in numerous groups. This could likely be traced back to the Great Speakonia War series, which had a vast number of established Speakonia groups team up together during its final episodes (n addition to more recent groups like the Pansexual Pack and Starry Bunch), as well as DrewPicklesTheDark announcing the Asexual Alliance, a successor group that would carry on Swellmix's ideas, though he intentionally left them as a blank slate outside their introduction video for others to work and build upon. This never really went anywhere, and this group would quietly fade into obscurity. Others would introduce less-traditional groups, like Seth Bayona's Anti-Lolicon Bunch. Even so, these were relatively small additions and wouldn't raise much of an eyebrow. A few groups were conceptualized, namely RoboticBloxxer wanted to add more bisexual groups (which in turn lead to the creation of the Marceline Mafia), but many never made it past that.

That would all change in late August-early September, where users like MrBBFootFetishist, Moana2016, StraightFusion and several others went overboard and created an absurd amount of new groups, with IronYoshi referring to it as "the Bunch Month" due to the overwhelming number of groups introduced. Many would receive an announcement video and little more. Some wouldn't even make it out of the development phase. This would lead to some backlash within the server, due to the excessive spam users were receiving, as well as these new groups never being utilized outside of their introduction. As the month went on, this trend slowly started to die down, as many of the users introducing these groups would start posting less frequently until becoming pretty much inactive. Many of the groups that were introduced also faded away, but StraightFusion assured that he would be using the 4 different groups he introduced in his videos.

Aftermath

By the end of the year, only a small fraction of the groups introduced were being used. IronYoshi, in his 2022 retrospective, briefly talked about the oversaturation of groups during the year, stating that, while he wasn't against adding new groups into the community, he did stress that anyone who does add a new group actually utilize them in a meaningful way outside of their introduction, and that they don't do any of the ploys Digi Data did with his group. StraightFusion would also state that he wouldn't be adding anymore Speakonia groups in response to IronYoshi's criticisms until some of his newer groups he made are used more.

Some members like StraightFusion and RoboticBloxxer said they may have been at fault, as StraightFusion said the creation of the Pansexual Pack and their roles in DW4Ever 9-17's videos and the Great Speakonia War may had inspired others to create their own groups such as Barney Bunch Woodchuck, as he said the Pansexual Pack was listed as an inspiration to create the Transgender Troop. RoboticBloxxer said creating the Marceline Mafia may had also added fuel to the fire.
