The Barney Bunch Weekly Contest was an effort by Blood, devised on October 14, 2016 as a means of encouraging activity and creativity during the decline of the Barney Bunch Renaissance. In it, a user got to be the host and get to choose the theme, others sent in entries, and whoever won got to be the host of the next week and got to choose the theme.

The Weekly Contest lasted for approximately 45 weeks (or 10 months) before being cancelled forever. Blood hosted the first three weeks, and Nobody Nobody was the last to host after he relinquished his title as host and declared the contest over. Some weeks proved fruitful and produced good videos, however there were also several sub-par weeks, with week 3 of the contest in particular being singled out for its awfulness. Participation in the contest gradually declined as Renaissance-era vets went on hiatus and were supplanted by newcomers who were only briefly active anyway, with Skewt having to extend the deadline at least twice during weeks 25 and 35 (of which he was host) due to very few entries being submitted.

The contest officially ended on November 7, 2017 when Nobody Nobody uploaded the video "How to make a Barney Bunch Video - TUTORIAL (which despite it's name has nothing to do with the Barney Bunch or how to make BB videos), where the description stated, "The BB contest is dead. I resign from the position of host effective immediately."
