Second Barney Bunch Renaissance

The Second Barney Bunch Renaissance took place from June 22, 2019 to July 23, 2020. Much like the previous Renaissance, there was a great spike in activity within the Speakonia Community, but this one was more experimental, as the community took their venture across several sites, most prominently VidLii and, bizarrely enough, PornHub. Activity reached its peak during the summer.

History

Following the acrimonious end to the first Renaissance in December 2016, the Speakonia Community became increasingly stagnant. Several users began feeling directionless, including Skewt, and while 2017 saw the NewSchoolSwellness Google+ page and content made by users like SwellFusion, it only somewhat helped the community in the short term. Many of the main players in the Renaissance either retired, had their channels terminated, or just disappeared. The NewSchoolSwellness Discord server also contributed to this stagnant period in content. As early as December 2018, SavageBoy declared in the (dead) NewSchoolSwellness server that he felt VidLii was the best place to take the community, a foreshadow of what was to come.

The seeds began to be planted by the start of 2019, as both Skewt and SavageBoy, having both retired in 2018, disillusioned with the community, slowly began getting an urge to create Speakonia videos again after constantly discussing about it on Discord. Skewt, doing business on VidLii as SignussEcksTwo, uploaded the video THE WIGGLES DO SOME SHADY SHIT PURE EXPLOITATION XXX to VidLii on May 3, 2019. This video could be credited with sparking this so-called Second Renaissance. It was only after this that new users joined and existing users discovered each other and began to connect. While there were Barney Bunch videos already on VidLii (an example being the channel Hawaii) as early as early 2018 and users such as SavageBoy (who created his account early on in the site's existence, owing to his observation of what could be called the alternative video sharing platform scene), defpickles98 and Prime8NStuff (channel deleted by the time this era of content took form) had already existed on there, it was still largely an untapped market, with the only Barney Bunch videos being a few Drew Pickles ones.

Just two days after the release of Skewt's first Speakonia video in over a year, veteran community member danq58/CaribBarney joined VidLii as Angel58. This would be the first Speakonia Community member to join post-Skewt, to which only more would follow. Three days later, veteran member Satinsguard returned on VidLii, coincidentally after (and absolutely impressed that) Skewt had remade his video Drew Pickles Goes To Barney And Friends. As SavageBoy and Skewt began making more videos, more users kept on piling up, hopping on for the proverbial train that was about to depart. However, June would see a string of valiant returns that would possibly spark the so-called Second Renaissance.

Alfardo96 joined VidLii as AssFucker69 at the tail end of May, for a start. Activity in the community slowly began to rise as a result of increasing collective efforts, with RonaldMcPornald being an example of a new user that joined during June, although his videos mostly appear to be Blood reuploads under different titles. Savage noticed that activity was growing and posted an announcement video urging everyone to keep the ball rolling to get the community out of the downward spiral once and for all.

Eventually, after several days of questioning Blood's whereabouts since it'd been years, he made an unexpected yet absolutely rejoiced return to the community, after a 2-1/2 year retirement, although he clarified he wouldn't consider himself unretired, stating that the efforts of Savage and Skewt were the direct reason why he made such a return in the first place, and that he hadn't seen the community in such a better state since 2007-08. SavageBoy, who started a Barney Bunch Discord server April that year which at one point just comprised of he and Skewt, decided to send the invite to other community members after Blood had asked him on a place to chat. On June 28, MrSpikeThe2nd, after having disappeared for a year or two, returned on VidLii as TerroristBarney, further cementing the Second Renaissance's existence. Mister Incognito would make a return on July 1, 2019. The increasing presence and somewhat inescapability of the community on VidLii wound up drawing in non-BB users such as Skid1288 to participate in the community, posting videos and commenting.

Peak of the Second Renaissance (mid 2019)

By July, the community began to attract attention from outside users on VidLii. In the VidLii Discord server, Blood screwed with the users in the server with swell shenanigans, which resulted in one guy telling Blood to get help and another allegedly convinced by his Nathan persona. Channel TeeHeeHUB uploaded a video reacting to one of Skewt's Wiggles videos on July 17. User WeirdAsCrapVideos (WACV), part of the TeeHeeHUB channel, criticized the idea of text-to-speech videos in the comment section of the reaction video, but several community members raided the comment section and downvoted his comments, with users such as Savage and Alfardo explaining the videos to him.

SavageBoy and Sir Peter posted Barney Bunch porn in the VidLii Discord server around this time; mod Zod4President claimed to Savage he was "eating dinner lol", which led to Savage's Arthur Read/Buster Baxter hentai image to be viewable on the VidLii server's general channel for over an hour. Sir Peter was called a creep, and both were banned (as of April 1, 2020, they are still banned). In late July, HulkaroniNCheeze ramped up activity by making more Barney Bunch videos and commenting on others.

End of the Second Renaissacne

By the beginning of August, VidLii began becoming plagued with constant server and certificate issues (a problem which continues to somewhat persist), and various community members toyed around with uploading to other sites, including Pornhub. Blood was eventually banned from VidLii in mid-August, and Savage would leave shortly after. The initial excitement of this period dwindled down after this period, and dwindled even further slowly until December 14, 2019 when Blood announced he would log out of Discord to avoid checking it (the reason which was explained in his massive March 27, 2020 UPDATE VIDEO). While this page considered the Renaissance to have ended here, Blood retired completely on July 23, 2020, and it can be marked the true end of this period in Speakonia Community history.
