Blood-style videos

The Blood-style videos are a term used to describe videos made mimicking that of the late community member Blood. Originally inspired by the style of some of the old Barney Bunch flashes on Newgrounds, they were one of Blood's signature videos until members of the community began to adopt this style during the Renaissance eras of the mid to late 2010s. As of today, they are not as common, but the style has seen some significant use with several newer members.

Format

Like the Drew Pickles Goes To videos, Blood-style videos follow a fairly simple and straightforward format.

• Much like the Goes To videos, the character featured in the video would introduce themselves and explain their sexuality, a story that happened to them, or some other other random fact about themselves. Sometimes "and the reason why" is often said and they would also sometimes list off some butt buddies and good men, repeating various pieces of dialogue too.
• The voices used in the videos are often at the deepest pitch and fastest speed to convey a sense of urgency.
• The titles of the videos are almost always in ALL CAPS, mimicking that of the old Barney Bunch flashes on Newgrounds, complete with porn-esque titles such as "BARNEY BUNCH DUMPSTER BUTTSEX ORGY" or more off the wall and innocent sounding titles such as "ARTHUR IS A GOOD BOY WHO FOLLOWS THE YOUTUBE GUIDELINES" as to trick the viewer.
• Many of the videos loop the audio multiple times to stretch the video's length. Other times the "hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahaha" sound (the sex sound used by characters in videos) is repeated over and over, or often the character will say a certain phrase over and over until the video ends.
• Usually by the end of the video, the character says "Fuck You".

History

The videos (obviously) can be traced back to Blood himself. He wanted to emulate the classic style of Barney Bunch content that was seen on Newgrounds. One of the earliest instances of a community member emulating Blood's videos was on September 4, 2010 when TheSecondL uploaded The Wiggles Talk, but even so, the style was relatively niche for the time and was still being provided by Blood.

The style wouldn't take off until roughly 2015 to 2016, at the turn of the first Barney Bunch Renaissance. As several users during this time felt like the Goes To videos overstayed their welcome, many turned to Blood's style of videos for their quick, efficient, quantity over quality way and began to do their own Blood-style videos, with one of the first users to take advantage of it was Skewt. In fact, it was the community embracing this style that caused Blood to return to the community again. These, along with Trap videos, became the dominating force of the community as far as content for both the first and second Renaissance eras. Some members of the community would even put two and two together and create a sort of hybrid of the Goes To and Blood-style, though these weren't as common.

By the end of the Second Renaissance, the Blood-style quickly waned down as many of the members associated with the Renaissance eras either retired or became inactive, leaving Blood once again the sole proprietor of this style, and for the Goes To style to make a slight comeback alongside more plot-driven videos. While the Blood-style was seen as a breath of fresh air, many community members (at least on YouTube) began to feel that they were starting to become almost as repetitive and stagnant as the Goes To videos. Blood himself would finally retire from the community fully by the middle of 2020, with a few uploads featuring his signature style before his passing in 2021. While it may not be as prominent in the community as it once was, a handful of newer community members began to make videos in the Blood-style, in particular Dr. Drew Pickles, RoboticBloxxer, Slim Pickles, and CalciferBarney, ensuring that it will still be around and carry on Blood's legacy.
