The Barney Bunch Website was a site created on Tripod via the original members of the Barney Bunch on Newgrounds. The site was used as a way for members to communicate via forums and archive many of their Flash submissions. As of today, the site is no longer available, but it has been preserved through the Internet Archive.

History edit

The exact origin of the site is relatively unknown, however, according to the Internet Archive, one of the earliest captures of the site was January 6, 2006, so the best estimate of its creation would be around that time or earlier in late 2005. It was first advertised on Clock Day 2007, when the Barney Bunch supposedly returned to Newgrounds.

The site would play host to a variety of content. One page featured an entire history of Drew Pickles, creating his rather infamous (albeit hilarious) bio, giving him his famous attributes such as his time in the Boner Baseball League, his lengthy porno career with highlights, and instructions on how to make his world famous poopy pies. The site also had an archive containing most if not all the Flash submission posted at the time, and even a forums page, marking one of the earliest attempts at better unifying the then young community.

As the years passed, the site began to go dormant due to the original Newgrounds members retiring or becoming inactive. It would soon be discovered by the YouTube iteration of the community, who took a liking to Drew's hilarious bio, and several videos were make of Drew reading his bio from the site. Unfortunately, the site would finally shut down by the mid 2010s due to being incredibly inactive, but its legacy lives on via the Internet Archive, with all but the forums page restored.

Planned Successor Site edit

After Tracle's ban on Barney Bunch content, StraightFusion proposed a Barney Bunch PeerTube. However one of the Tracle mods volunteered to help out and thought to make a Barney Bunch video sharing site with the proposed name Swelly.tv, or Swlly for short, with the open source code for Tracle. So far, this plan has not come to fruition.
