'''YouTube''' is a video sharing website that first formed in 2005, and has since become a massive and influential platform for creators of all kinds. The site also serves as the primary place where the current [[The Barney Bunch|Barney Bunch]] and [[The Speakonia Community|Speakonia Community]] reside, and where much of the community's most beloved creators originated, as well as new ones coming in too.


== History ==
=== Early Years (2006-2009) ===
Following their exile from [[Newgrounds]], the Barney Bunch were looking for a new place to call home. [[StrawberryBarney]], one of the founders of the group on Newgrounds, did some scouting on the then relatively fresh new site of YouTube and felt it was the perfect place to set up. So he and a handful of other members migrated to the site where, on April 20, 2006, StrawberryBarney uploaded the very flash that helped skyrocket the Bunch a year prior, [[Drew Pickles is REALLY REALLY Gay!]] It is thus far one of the oldest and possibly only surviving video from that time. Also worth noting was [[Sammyt3hSnake]], who began uploading his own batch of videos in December of that year. While not truly apart of the Barney Bunch, Sammy was good friends with its members and did help pioneer the community on YouTube, and would continue to be a driving force up until his channel was unfortunately suspended in 2009. 

2007 was the year that the YouTube portion of the community began to grow, with the likes of Sammyt3hSnake, [[BooNube]], GheyCarlWinslow, and TheSecondL leading the charge. [[Blood]] and [[Life Or Death]] would also join around this time and become legends in their own right. The content, while still featuring children's show characters being homosexual deviants, couldn't go to the extremes as some of the old Newgrounds content did, as YouTube had very strong content restrictions on its platform that could lead to some videos getting flagged or even worse, taken down (which many think have gotten worse over time). Some users like Newgrounds vet [[SovietBarney]] pushed the boundaries of what could be posted there, with him uploading his Drew Pickles animations in all their raw, uncut glory. By 2008, the creative shift changed dramatically, as the [[Drew Pickles Goes To]] videos became one of the dominating forces in the developing community, for both better and for worse.

=== Birth of the Speakonia Community (2010-2015) ===
By the turn of the new decade, the Barney Bunch went from a small startup community on YouTube to a full collective community of users, being very different than how it was on Newgrounds. Many of the old guard that pioneered on the site had either retired, become inactive, had their channels suspended, or felt dissatisfied with the direction the group was heading, leaving room for newer creators to pitch in with ideas. Content remained largely the same, with Drew Pickles Goes To, [[Secret Missing Episode|Secret Missing Episodes]], and [[Generic Gets Owned]] being the driving force, though there were some notable off set videos uploaded, with one of the most popular being [[Drew Pickles Talks 'Bout Closing Logos (series)|Drew Pickles Talks 'Bout Closing Logos]], as well as the [[Speakonia Dubs|Speakonia gag dubs]] of ''Rugrats'' episodes being made by [[bigboyrats]]. Despite minor skirmishes with with anti-Barney Bunch trolls, all seemed well within the community. But things were about to take a dramatic turn.

During 2011, conflict began to arise between users regarding what was "established" within the Barney Bunch canon and what was not. The end result was the [[The Unestablished War|Unestablished War]], which split the community into two factions, [[OldSchoolSwellness]] and [[SwellDrewTube]], and a massive in-fight within the community broke out. This left the community fractioned more than it already was, and while it did introduce several new characters and ideas like [[Yogi Bear]] and the [[The Humongous Bunch|Humongous Bunch]], the damage was already done. Also at this time was the formation of the first off-branch of the community known as the [[The Foot Fetish Community|Foot Fetish Community]], who approached the same content as the main community with more effort.

=== Renaissance Eras and The Community Today (2016-Present) ===
The end of the Unestablished War left the community in shambles, though it was still making it through. By 2014, a collection of users including [[Skewt]], [[dildosdildo123]], and [[Prime8NStuff]] rallied together and helped the community branch off of places besides YouTube, starting by making a Barney Bunch [[Google+]] community. Blood also returned to the community in 2015. But 2016 would prove to be the biggest year for the community yet, as it would enter the first [[Barney Bunch Renaissance]].

The end result was a flood of new content and new members, with the Goes To videos being traded in for [[Blood-style videos]] and Trap videos, and the [[The Wiggles|Wiggles]] of all characters taking centerstage. Many veterans of the classic YouTube era would also return. This era would last from July up until September, where a domino effect of events would lead the community down a dark path that would take a while to recover from. Many videos were taken down, and some members either retired or had their channels terminated. Many had also grown tired of YouTube's policies becoming more and more aggressive and intolerable. Despite numerous efforts, activity was at an all-time low. When the [[Second Barney Bunch Renaissance]] hit, many of the community members associated with it migrated over to [[VidLii]]. By the end of the Second Renaissance, activity began to return back to YouTube with users like [[IronYoshi1212 Productions|IronYoshi1212]] producing new and original Speakonia content, as well as the return of several older members sparking interest back into the community along with new blood.

In 2022, YouTube became more unbearable to many members of the community. First was the terminations users like [[ToiletPranker]], Skewt (under his Skewt is Back account), and NintendoMaster2010, sparking outrage amongst members of the community, especially since they had not been active in years. Second came YouTube constantly age-restricting nearly every new upload. IronYoshi, in a video calling out YouTube, suggested alternate sites and to archive videos in case the videos are taken down. As of today, the community still remains on YouTube, but they have also began spreading their reach to other sites as well, including the [[Internet Archive]], [[Tracle]] (until they were banned), [[Dailymotion]] (albeit briefly), Odysee, and Rumble, growing a disdain towards YouTube and its policies.

In 2023 YouTube started to loosen their guidelines a bit following the company getting a new CEO though it seem to do nothing significantly different here and still do the same things to Speakonia videos.
