The '''Garfield Gang''' is an old [[Speakonia]] group who was active from 2007 until early 2008. While they might not sound familiar and have defiantly fallen into extreme obscurity, they are one of, if not the first ever, original Speakonia group created outside the [[The Barney Bunch (fictional)|Barney Bunch]] and acted as one of the first ever rival groups to them.

== History ==
The Garfield Gang first began on April 4, 2007 with a user named JEMASCOLA. He was a big fan of the [[The Barney Bunch|Barney Bunch]] and wanted attention from it and to give it competition, in addition to having his own Barney Bunch-esque group. His first Garfield Gang-related video was "Uncut Garfield 1," which used humor in a similar vain to the Barney Bunch. Soon enough, he would gather a few other users and put his plan into motion.

On April 23, the Garfield Gang declared "war" on the Barney Bunch. Sadly, the Garfield Gang was outnumbered and tended to produce lower-quality videos than those of the Barney Bunch. The war officially ended on June 14 with a finale video in which both groups united to defeat KoolKidzKlub. The end of this war resulted in the dissolution of the Garfield Gang (according to the video storyline, they cryogenically froze themselves).

In early December, the Garfield Gang reemerged after JEMASCOLA uploaded a new video in which the group was impersonated by Seth MacFarlane (creator of ''Family Guy''), who was dressed in a Garfield Gang costume and insulted the Barney Bunch. JEMASCOLA had plans for new Garfield Gang videos in early 2008 but got lazy and decided not to go through with them. He again dissolved the Garfield Gang in late March 2008, officially turning it over to his friend, zap2346, although to date, he hasn't done anything with the group.

== Legacy ==
The Garfield Gang, being one of the community's first ever Speakonia groups, would set the stage for all future groups to follow. Usually a new group would be introduced by a member of the community and would tout themselves as being the Barney Bunch's newest and biggest rival. They would be used for a couple videos, some members would complain about the groups inclusion to the wider Speakonia canon, then they would be quickly forgotten about.

That's not to say that there have been groups that haven't left their mark on the community since the Garfield Gang. Groups like the Grover's Gay Gang, Screw Scouts, [[The Humongous Bunch|Humongous Bunch]], and Hanna-Barbera Bunch have managed to leave an impact despite their relatively brief time in the spotlight, but it would also pave the way for more famous and well known groups that are still used to this very day including the [[The Pubic Family|Pubic Family]], [[The Betty Bunch|Betty Bunch]], [[The Ketchum Klan|Ketchum Klan]], [[The Nega Barney Bunch|Nega Barney Bunch]], and many, many more. It remains unknown how the original Barney Bunch members on YouTube reacted or felt about the Garfield Gang, but the additions to the community would be largely criticized in the years that followed, resulting in unintended conflict.

As far as additions to the grander lore, the Garfield Gang laid down the blueprints for many future groups, mostly in arriving as a threat to the Barney Bunch originally, but sometimes having to team up with them to take out a greater threat.
