After Gary's tragic death in early 2022, TDPS went on hiatus until a replacement showrunner could be found. Originally, former Shakeverse admin Sam20 was slated to take over the project, but Wothen (then known as Maestro Keegan) would soon handle the series going forward, having managed to effectively emulate Gary's style of editing. This would also cause a format change, as the past episodes that were made by Gary were labeled as "Season 1", while the episodes made by Keegan would be labeled "Season 2" and so forth. Additional help was also provided formerly by Gavin Barron starting sometime late into Season 3, however after the next normal episode (release pending as of latest revision) he will leave production, with Benjamin Mickle and Devon Lawler both filling in for him. The series would also move from the currently retired Shakeverse channel to Guild.

The series is a production between Forksand Animation, Salisbury Entertainment, Mickle Town Productions and InterMedia (revival), in association with Sofy Pictures Television. Delicata Purgamentum Productions was previously involved for some time, but eventually quit due to Gavin's resignation over creative differences. Currently the series is slated to end after the release of Drewniverse Movie: Doomsday (formerly titled Drewniverse Movie: Insanorama).
