'''Clifford''' is a big red dog, title character of his very own series of books and cartoons, and the official mascot for Scholastic, as well as being a Barney Bunch member, having been utilized in the [[The Speakonia Community|Speakonia Community]] since the Newgrounds era in 2005, and has since been a staple character making occasional appearances.

== History ==
In 1963, Norman Bridwell published the very first book in the ''Clifford'' series, and has since spawned a series of 80 books (two of which were published posthumously), with book publishing company Scholastic adopting him as their official mascot. In 1986, Clifford would later have his own video called "Clifford's Sing Along Adventure", making his first appearance in film/television/video. In 1988, a direct-to-video series titled "Clifford's Fun With...". The episodes on the release are: "''The ABC Message Service''", "''Clifford's Birthday Surprise''", "''The Scavenger Hunt''", "''The Rhyme Cat Rescue''", "''Clifford Goes to Hollywood''", and "''The Pet Show''".

In 2000, he received a TV adaptation on PBS which ran until 2003, with a total of 65 episodes. It would later be followed by a prequel series known as ''Clifford's Puppy Days'' which ran from 2003 to 2006, with a total of 36 episodes. In 2019, he would get another animated series that debuted on Amazon Prime Video, which would later air on PBS a day later. In 2004, Clifford's very own movie (''Clifford's Really Big Movie'') was released in theaters and grossed a total of $3.3 million in the box office and received mixed responses. Clifford would then get another movie adaptation in 2021, though unlike the previous film which used 2D animation, this one was live action with 3D animation, and it too received mixed reviews, and it made $107.3 million in the box office.

In 2005, right in the early days of the [[The Barney Bunch|Barney Bunch]], he was adopted as a member of the [[The Barney Bunch (fictional)|fictional Barney Bunch]], and he was shown to be a very popular character along with [[Drew Pickles]], [[Barney]], [[Ronald McDonald]], [[Dick the Clown]], the [[The Wiggles|Wiggles]], and [[Arthur]], and he has been a staple member since, making frequent appearances whenever the Barney Bunch go to a place, as well as being a common character within [[Blood-style videos]]. He's voiced by either Microsoft Sam or Microsoft Mike, often on the lowest pitch.

== Description and Personality ==
In the actual ''Clifford'' book and cartoon series, he's portrayed to be with her owner Emily Elizabeth, starting off small and becomes enormous in size due to Emily's love and care. And he's portrayed to be very friendly, though his size can be inconsistent, as although he's said to be about 25 feet (7.6 m) tall from paws to head, he may appear larger.

In the Barney Bunch universe however, he, just like all Barney Bunch members, is portrayed as very gay, with a big red rocket, and he was often seen as being butt buddies with Krypto the Superdog. The fact that Clifford, alongside Caillou, Arthur, Elmo, and the Teletubbies are members of the Barney Bunch could be a reference to how they all air on the same network as Barney's TV show, PBS. And out of all Barney Bunch members, he's the largest in size.
