BarneyPoop (real name Timothy Chen, born September 1993) was a former Newgrounds user and one of the founders of the original Barney Bunch with StrawberryBarney, having been 11 years old at the time. While he may not have been aware of it at the time, he would plant the seeds for the entire basis of the Speakonia Community as we know it today.
History
BarneyPoop got his start on Newgrounds in 2005. At the time, he was just shy of his 12th birthday when he would go on to found the Barney Bunch on August 25 with StarwberryBarney as a simple in-joke between the two users. After a few Flash submissions, their group would later develop into a small following of other users who became infatuated with their joke, which would lead into one of the biggest trolling schemes to befall Newgrounds.
Over the course of a year, BarneyPoop and his newfound group would go on a series of file-swaps, tweening animation, and loads of Flashes about beloved cartoon, preschool show characters, and mascots talking about their swell lifestyle. It got to the point that the majority of Newgrounds were getting fed up with the Barney Bunch's shenanigans, and dedicated several Flashes and chat forums decrying the group, hoping that they would be permabanned from the site. Despite this, the Barney Bunch would keep going, but there was trouble brewing behind the scenes. BarneyPoop, despite being the founder of the group, did have disagreements with many of the other members, and had a brief skirmish with ItchyBarney (Cyberen) over who would take control over the Barney Bunch. This would lead to many of the original Newgrounds group disbanding followed by the mass-exodus from Newgrounds itself. While many members would retire, others joined StrawberryBarney in setting the community up on YouTube.
BarneyPoop would later join YouTube as well on November 11, 2007, going under the name "TheCliffordCult". Outside of a few videos featuring PigletFace (a character based off of a specific frame of Piglet from Winnie the Pooh created whilst having a mental breakdown) and a video calling out ItchyBarney, it would seem he pretty much seem like his time with the Barney Bunch was finally over, and he would ultimately distance himself from the group he helped create.
In 2014, Chen (under the username GoodLuckTurtle) would later recall his experience with the Barney Bunch in the Newgrounds forums, stating that while he grew out of making those videos, he and StrawberryBarney remained in contact long after. Both would also grow a strong disdain towards the YouTube iteration of the community, calling them "phony imitators" and "wannabes". In another post discussing where the original Barney Bunch members on Newgrounds were, Chen would later state that he was seeking a career in child therapy assistance, and even feeling regret on his part in creating the Barney Bunch, having took a large toll on his school and social life. While there may be disagreements over his statements about the current iteration of the community today, it should be started that without BarneyPoop, the Barney Bunch, and the Speakonia Community as we know it today, would probably have never happened, and the Internet would have been a much different place.
