'''Arthur''' is a beloved icon of both children's television and literature, as well as being one of the earliest members of the [[The Barney Bunch (fictional)|Barney Bunch]]. He's one of the few members introduced during the [[Newgrounds]] era to still have a prominent role in videos to this day, remaining a fan-favorite with many members of the [[The Speakonia Community|Speakonia Community]].

== History ==
Arthur was introduced to the Barney Bunch early on in its lifespan, having appeared in some of the earliest Newgrounds flashes. Since then, he remained a staple character throughout the First Generation of the [[The Barney Bunch|Barney Bunch]], being one of the few, alongside [[Clifford]] and the [[The Wiggles|Wiggles]], to stand toe to toe with [[Drew Pickles]], [[Barney]], [[Ronald McDonald]], and [[Dick the Clown]].

After the Barney Bunch was driven off Newgrounds and made their way to [[YouTube]], Arthur tagged along with them, being a character that was used by various members of the community, in particular [[Blood]], who has gone on record stating that Arthur was one of his favorite characters to use in videos. As the YouTube iteration of the community began to introduce more and more characters (and as older ones began to fall into obscurity and be forgotten about) as well as Speakonia community members stop using underage characters, Arthur still maintained a decent presence, even if he wasn't used outside of the occasional cameo and Blood-style video.

Arthur's voice has remained consistent throughout the Barney Bunch, with Adult Male #3 being the default, though in some Blood-style videos, Microsoft Sam and Microsoft Mike were occasionally used.

== Description and Personality ==
Arthur is a young aardvark who resides in Elwood City with his friends and family. Of course, in the Barney Bunch canon, this need not apply, as Arthur is one of the youngest members of the Barney Bunch only behind Caillou and Elmo, showing that, no matter how old you are, the Barney Bunch welcomes all (unless you are female, then you must go to the [[The Betty Bunch|Betty Bunch]] instead). Arthur is given the nickname of "the Sex Hamster", despite being an aardvark, and his role in the Barney Bunch tends to vary. He occasionally tags along with Drew Pickles when he invites the Barney Bunch to any location, or he could be having a swell time with his best friend and butt buddy Buster "the Ball Busting" Baxter.

*The fact that Arthur is a Barney Bunch member may be a reference to how his show airs on the same network as Barney’s show (PBS).
